Joy in New York City

The best parade NYC has to offer does not take place anywhere near Central Park — it’s in Crown Heights. When I was asked to cover the West Indian Parade, I truly had no idea what I was in for, despite being born and raised in New York.

The colors, food and of course, the dancers, were emblazoned in my mind until the next year when I attended again.

I also attended the Halloween Parade in the West Village, the Christmas displays in Dyker Heights, as well as New York’s welcome to Pope Francis for WPIX. See some pictures taken for our social media accounts below:

Perhaps a more bittersweet event, I also visited FAO Schwarz on their last day at their iconic Fifth Avenue location. I spoke to tourists and lifelong New Yorkers alike inside the store, Periscope’d and shared images on social media. You can my story HERE.

For Comic-Con 2014, I cosplayed as Lois Lane and my colleague Chris as Clark Kent — fitting as the home of WPIX, the Daily News Building, served as inspiration for the original Daily Planet headquarters. See pictures from social media coverage of the event below:
